We were hosted by the Rockford IL CVB during a part of our Spring Break trip to discover State of Illinois. We received a complete itinerary for our trip and our first stop once we arrived into Rockford was at the Discovery Center Museum.
The Discovery Center Museum is one of Rockford’s must visit attractions! The museum has over 250 hands on art and science exhibits! They also have a Tot Spot just for Toddlers!
Interesting Facts about the Discovery Center Museum:
– They have the FIRST community-built outdoor science park featuring 8000 sq feet of wooden fun! The fact this community came together to build this is fantastic! It shows just how much Rockford, as a community, supports each other.
– The Discovery Center Museum was ranked the FOURTH best children’s museum in the nation by Child Magazine.
– The Discovery Center Museum was ranked a top 12 museum by Forbes.com.
The Discovery Center is located on the Riverfront Museum Park campus, with the Rockford Art Museum and adjacent to the Burpee Museum of Natural History in downtown Rockford, Illinois. You can easily spend a day or two at the campus for both education and adventure! And a neat feature about the campus is that you are right next to the Rock River. The City of Rockford takes a lot of pride in their river and riverfront.
Here are some more pictures of the museum.
I can see why the Discovery Center Museum has won the accolades that it has! Our children had a terrific time as did my husband! We could have easily spent hours in there exploring each exhibit and outside at the Outdoor Science Park.
If you are looking for a great Children’s Museum to visit this year, make sure you add the Discovery Center Museum to your list! You won’t be disappointed!
THANK YOU to the Rockford CVB for hosting us and to the Discovery Center Museum for providing us with complimentary admission for our visit!
