We were recently hosted by the Rockford CVB during our Spring Break Trip to discover Illinois. We received a gift certificate from Lino’s to use towards our bill and redeem during one of our meals in Rockford. Our opinions were not influenced in any way.
Lino’s has been a long time staple and local fav in Rockford since 1972.
When you first walk into Lino’s, you are automatically transported to a quaint Italian village!
We were greeted promptly by the hostess and was seated. Our waitress, Andrea, greeted us as soon as we sat down. We told her it was our first time visiting and asked her what she suggested in addition to the Special Salad that the Director of the Burpee Museum, Scott, suggested that we definitely try.
Our family loves pizza so when our waitress suggested that, we knew we had to have one! We ordered the #17 which had everything on it. However, we opted out of the anchovies though! When our waitress brought our salad out, she also gave us a loaf of bread and butter.
First, let’s talk about the bread. As we all know, many places serve you bread to enjoy as an appetizer and it’s usually ok. But it’s just a loaf of basic bread and normally it’s a frozen loaf that was put in the oven and warmed up. It’s not baked fresh that morning.
One bite was all it took to realize that Lino’s in Rockford makes their own bread the break is HOMEMADE and made fresh! It was chewy, soft, warm and perfect! Seriously I could have just made dinner the bread and the salad!
Now the Special Salad. The salad consists of romaine lettuce, red wine vinegar, romano chesse, hard-boiled egg slices, sausage, tomatoes, and some other unknown seasonings.
Let’s talk about the pizza! The crust was very flaky, almost buttery and light. The sauce was seasoned perfectly. The cheese was gooey and the toppings were fresh! Is your mouth watering yet? If not, it will be when you see the picture below!
During our meal, one of the owners, Jim, stopped by and introduced himself and he also checked on how our visit was going. Jim was one of the nicest and most down to earth people we have ever met!
Our meal was hot, fresh and homemade. The staff was pleasant and efficient.
Jim and his brother Joe are doing an amazing job with Lino’s! If you are planning a visit to Rockford, you must plan to have a meal at Lino’s! You won’t be disappointed! You can learn more about Lino’s by clicking here to go directly to their website. Once there you can see Lino’s menu, prices and hours.
Our oldest, who is becoming quite the food connoisseur, has rated the pizza we had at Lino’s, “The BEST pizza we have ever had”! She will also be doing her own featured stories soon on our trip to Rockford.
Thank you to Lino’s for an amazing dinner, great experience and gift certificate and Thank you to the Rockford CVB for suggesting Lino’s and arranging our visit there!
