Welcome to our 30 Days of Romantic Getaways!
For Day Two, imagine if you will, starting off your Romantic Getaway, strolling through a beautiful Japanese Garden. An exquisite garden which is infused with stone, water, plants, pagodas, stone lanterns and bridges. Then enjoy a quaint lunch downtown before embarking on a relaxing boat ride as you enjoy the sites along a vibrant riverfront. And to top off the evening, enjoy an Italian meal in a quaint Italian restaurant where everything is fresh and carefully prepared!
No, I’m not talking about flying to Japan and then flying to Italy for a Romantic Getaway! The locale of this amazing Romantic Getaway is in the heart of the Midwest! You can find all of the above right in Rockford IL!
You can start off your Romantic Getaway in Rockford by going to the Anderson Japanese Gardens! In a hectic and stressful world, the gardens offer their guests a place of peace and tranquility where they will find healing, renewal, inspiration, and a re-energized soul.

After a romantic stroll through the gardens, head downtown to Vintage @ 501 to enjoy a delicious lunch! You must must must try the Million Dollar Bacon as your appetizer!!! We were able to dine at Vintage @ 501 during our trip to Rockford. My husband had the Pub Burger and I enjoyed the Vintage Mac & Cheese.
After a lovely and relaxed lunch, head to Riverview Park to board the Forest City Queen Riverboat! Take a relaxing 45-minute cruise, and sightsee while learning about Rockford’s past, present, and future as the boat travels by some of Rockford’s most stately homes, businesses, and parks gracing the banks of the Rock River!
